Obituary

Plain/Madison/Waunakee

Florence M. (Pronold) Knox was called Home unexpectedly by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 24, 2016. She was born in Plain on November 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Anton and Lillian (Hehenberger) Pronold. Flossie met the love of her life, James, while working together at First National Bank in Madison, and they were united in marriage on June 18, 1949.

She and James had many shared interests, including golfing and curling all over the upper Midwest and Canada. They enjoyed going on cruises and trips to the San Antonio area in the winters. She loved tending her garden and feeding birds in her yard. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, crafting and playing the piano. Flossie was always a loving mother to her two sons, and a devoted wife. Flossie practiced her Christian faith daily, in all facets of her life, with her kind and giving spirit.

Flossie is survived by two sons, Michael (Petra Schroeder) Knox and Thomas (Kristen) Knox; three grandchildren, Gunnar, Taylor and Hanna; two sisters, Jeannie Kinsman, Doris (Gene) Alt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James; eight siblings, Irene, Viola, Muriel, Richard, Phillip, Raymond, Teddy and Rose.

Her family extends a special thank you to Marylee Schroeder, friend and co-mother-in-law. Thank you to Waunakee Manor for many years of care and compassion; and the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital during Flossie’s final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Avenue, with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. Burial will follow at St. Luke Catholic Cemetery, Oak Street, Plain, at 1 p.m. with Father John Silva presiding
