Ruth Meister

Ruth A Meister, age 86 died on July 25, 2016. She was born on August 6, 1929 at St. Mary’s Hospital to Otto and Theresa (Andre) Lampe. She graduated from Madison East in 1947 and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1950. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Dubuque in 1978. Ruth married Calvin J. Meister at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on April 19, 1952. After their marriage they moved to Boscobel, then to Dodgeville, Richland Center, Fond du Lac, Minocqua, and Madison. She loved her nursing profession and practiced in all areas during the 54 years of her nursing career. She enjoyed traveling, especially to foreign countries both for vacations and to assist her husband with his cheese production assignments. Ruth was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a volunteer at Olbrich Gardens.

She is survived by her husband and three sons, Terry (Darcia), Tim, Ted (Jeanne) and daughter, Nancy (Kelly) Noble, eight grandsons, Brad, Brian, Kevin, Brent, Calvin, and Ben Meister, Michael and Taylor Noble and a granddaughter Christina Meister, six great-grandsons James, Joseph, Caden, Chase and Brayden Meister, and Elliott Noble .

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dick Lampe.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., on Monday, August 1, 2016, at 11AM. Visitation will be at the Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave, Madison, WI on Sunday, July 31, 2016, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., and again at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday.

Memorials can be made in Ruth’s name to St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing Alumni scholarship fund.
