Marie Hale

MADISON- Marie Hale, age 73, passed away at UW Hospital on July 31, 2016. She was born in Madison on August 27, 1942, the daughter of Fred and Martha (Kelley) Ream. She attended Madison East High School. She married Tom Hale in October of 1960, and stayed home to raise their family. When they moved to Florida in 1980, she worked at Westminster Oaks where she retired as Executive Housekeeper in 2001.

They moved back to Wisconsin after her retirement to be closer to family. Marie was an avid bingo player and loved taking care of the many rescue foster dogs that came through their home over the years.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Tom; her daughters, Julie Rohrer and Vickie Hale; her grandson, Rob (Jia) Rohrer; her sister, Donna Schmelzer; and several nieces and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Nancy; a sister, Shirley (Don) Mathison; and brother-in-law, Ron Schmelzer.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff in TLC South at the UW Hospital for their extraordinary care of Marie.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the funeral home and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
