Anna Johnson

Madison - Anna Marie (Dahmen) Johnson, age 81, of Madison, Wis., peacefully passed on to eternal rest at Agrace HospiceCare, on August 4th, 2016. She was born on November 10, 1934 in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Charles and Anna (Weiss) Dahmen. She grew up in Middleton, Wis., and was married to Robert E. "Bob" Johnson, at St. Bernard's Church in Middleton on February 5th, 1955. Together they raised six children.
She was a wonderful mother and a friend to all who knew her. Her major joy was to take care of her family and her home. Anna rejoined the workforce starting part-time work at Lindbergh School in food service in 1974. After seven years, she left school and worked in a Madison law office for eight years as a private secretary and finished up her career working as a Word Processing Operator (WPO) for the State of Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development for 10 years before her retirement in 1998.
Anna loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending all their school and athletic activities. In her retirement, she enjoyed bowling, reading, flower gardening, playing cards, knitting, and crocheting, watching all sports with her husband, and traveling. She enjoyed her involvement in the St. Peter's Church Choir where she was a charter member and sang in that choir for 35 years. In the last few months of her life, Mom found comfort and joy in her coloring book, finishing all but the last page.
She is predeceased by her brother-in-law, Richard Johnson and her sisters-in-law, Marjorie Larscheid and Mary Jane Dahmen.
She is survived by her faithful and beloved husband and friend of 61 years; six children, Jacquelyn (Randy) Walker, Sherri (Michael) Stark, Paul (Leah) Johnson, Diane (Steven) Nelson, Darren (Bernadette) Johnson and Wayne (Michele) Johnson; eleven grandchildren, Krista (Jason), Tricia (Curtis), Lindsey (Joseph), Curtis, Ryan (fiancé, Danielle), David, Elliot, Renee, Greta, Mitchell and Ethan; two step grandchildren, Jennifer and Emma; and three great grandsons, Lucas, Logan and Brecken. She is also survived by her three brothers, Richard Dahmen, Robert (Anneliese) Dahmen and Lewis (Mary Lynn) Dahmen, and her sisters Doris Smith and Helen Hurtgen. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Beth Johnson and Kathleen Wheeler and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon, on Tuesday August 9, 2016, at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. SHERMAN AVE., MADISON, with Monsignor Charles Schluter officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. SHERMAN AVE., MADISON, and again from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass at Church on Tuesday. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona.
