Madison - Rolland John Gundlach, age 88, died on Monday, August 8, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison. Rollie was born December 19, 1927 in Evansville, WI to John and Esther Gundlach. Rollie Served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 – 1948. After returning from service, he met and married Alice Coyne in Evansville on August 19, 1950.
Rollie worked in sales most of his life because he loved people. After retirement, Rollie enjoyed attending and assisting with auctions as well as collecting postcards. He and his wife were active volunteers at their church.
Rollie is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Alice; children, Jeff (Jane Spratler) Gundlach, Karen (Dennis) Sanner, Steve Gundlach, Janet (Brion) Trahan, Terry (Randy) Wold, Dan Gundlach, Patricia Gundlach; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorna Walk, Beth (Jim) Norgord, Mary (Ray) McCool; brothers, Howard (Sue) Gundlach, Tom (Trish) Gundlach; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, George Walk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Parish, ST. JOSEPH CHURCH, Beltline Hwy, with Msgr. Tom Baxter presiding. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.
