Michael Siemion

Sun Prairie / Lake Windsor – Michael F. Siemion, age 80, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. He was born on January 10, 1936 in Kenosha, Wis., to Michael and Pauline (Bucko) Siemion. He graduated from Kenosha Bradford High School in 1953. He entered the U.S. Navy in October 1956, and served until October 1959. During that time, he met his future wife, Ethel Tamargo, at the Cardinal Spellman Servicemen’s Club in New York City. They were married on August 27, 1960, and moved to Lake Windsor, Wis. to raise their son, Scott. Mike earned his associate engineering degree, and started his long teaching career at Wisconsin School of Electronics and later, Herzing Institute. He then spent four years at GTE, before returning to his passion of teaching at MATC from 1983 until his retirement in 2000.

Mike served as a Board Member and President of the Lake Windsor Property Owners Association. He was also a founding member and President of the Windsor Community Baseball League, and Chairman of the Windsor Park Light Project. He served the town of Windsor as a supervisor and park commission member. He was also inducted into the DeForest/Windsor Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.

During the years, Mike was an avid bicycle racer, a ham radio operator, and a “computer guy.” He was actively involved with his family, community and church throughout his life. After Ethel’s death in 2002, while volunteering at the Madison Brat Fest, Mike met and shared many great years with Marilyn Lindau, her family and their group of friends, affectionately known as “The Six Pack.” Mike loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Adam, who was always at the center of Mike’s special greeting cards.

Mike is survived by his son, Scott (Tracy) and grandson, Adam. He is also survived by his sister, Miriam (Dick) Tetzlaff, and many close nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; his parents; brother, John Siemion; sisters, Ann Piencikowski and Harriet Fischer; brothers-in-law, Caz Piencikowski, Oscar Fischer, Benjamin Lubinski and Donald Tamargo. He is also preceded in death by a special friend, Marilyn Lindau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at ST. OLAF’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 623 Jefferson Street, DeForest, with Father Vincent Brewer officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at Church. Burial at St. Olaf’s Catholic Cemetery will follow.
