Dr. Frederick Jefferson Davis, passed away on August 18, 2016 at Attic Angel Place, his home for the past few years.

Jeff was born on October 23, 1922 in Madison. He attended West High School and the University of Wisconsin for his undergraduate and medical degrees. After completing his residency in New York he joined his father at the Davis & Duehr eye clinic in 1950. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton CA from 1954-1956 where he was the Chief of Ophthalmology for the Naval Hospital. He retired from the medical practice in 1985 to focus on his other loves—motorcycling, golf and travel. He was especially fond of his many People to People trips which combined travel with old and new friends to exotic locations with golf at some challenging and fun golf courses.

Jeff married the love of his life, Mary McGuire, on December 27, 1944 and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage until her death in 2008. He is survived by his three sons, Jeff (Deb), Chris (Kathy) and Bill (Nancy); his seven grandchildren, Greg, Sammy, Jen, Brian, Mark, Will and Hanna; and his great-granddaughter, Aubrey. He is also survived by his brother, Matthew and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Dixie Curkeet and Allie Heaney.

Pursuant to his request, the funeral services will be private. Memorials may be made to Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, WI 53704 or Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711. Jeff’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff and residents at Attic Angel Place for the care and friendship they provided him over the past few years.
