Kennard D. “Ken” Sletten, age 85, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 at The Meadows of Fall River in Fall River, WI. Ken was born on April 20, 1931 to Sander and Mamie (Erickson) Sletten. Ken served his country in the Army from 1951 to 1954. He served overseas in the Korean War in the Co E 87th Infantry Regiment. When he was discharged he caught up with the love of his life, Ina Thomas. They married on October 2, 1954. Together they had three children. He worked in the glass field for many years, the latest being at the Brunke Glass. Ken enjoyed walking, Nascar and Packer games. He bowled in several leagues in the Madison Area. The most important part of his life was his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his children, Lori (Fred) Grueneberg, Ken (Karen) Sletten and Pam (Gary) Drouin; his 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Janice (Dick) Frye, Larry (JoAnn) Sletten, Judy (Gary) Aumock and Joe Sletten; sister-in-law, Sandy Sletten; and friend, Jojo.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Ina; parents, Sander and Mamie; two sisters, Margaret and Madeline; and brother, Rodney.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N Sherman Ave, Madison with Deacon Brenda Wingfield presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice, Beth, Jenni and also the wonderful staff at the Meadows in Fall River, especially Leta, Brittney, Morgan and Courtney.
