LeRoy Williams

Madison – LeRoy T. Williams, age 82, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Aster Memory Care in Cottage Grove from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was born on April 24, 1934 in Madison, WI, the son of James and Delia (Lynch) Williams. LeRoy was an All City football player for Madison East High School in 1951. He graduated from Madison East in 1952 and then served in the United States Army as a Corporal until 1954. He was united in marriage to Marcia Swiggum and they were married 61 years. LeRoy worked for the Madison Police Department for over 30 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Madison Elks Club and after retirement from the police department he worked doing deliveries for Klein’s Floral. He and Marcia enjoyed traveling and camping. LeRoy also enjoyed golfing, fishing and canoeing. His greatest love was family, and he was there for his children and grandchildren’s activities and sports and enjoyed family reunions.

LeRoy is survived by his children, Julie (Scott) Woerth, Michael (Kathryn) Williams, Joe (Maureen) Williams, Deanne (Jeff Romano) Williams, Holly (Todd) Wollin; nine grandchildren, Chris (Nikki) Woerth, Jared (Betsy) Woerth, Ross Williams, Haley, Matthew and Joshua Williams, Ben Runde, Tony Romano , Shelby Wollin; six great-grandchildren, MaKenna, Calen, Owen, Carson, Reed, Will; sisters, Ruth (Gordon) Dunn and Mary Dushack; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia on June 3, 2016; and his parents, James and Delia.

The family extends their gratitude to the staffs of Aster Memory Care, Heritage Assisted Living and Agrace HospiceCare for their loving care and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at ST BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave, Madison, with Father Michael Radowicz celebrating and Msgr. Donald Heiar con-celebrating. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4—7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue and again at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
