Lois Buchanan

OXFORD- Lois J. Buchanan, age 63, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 following a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by her family at Agrace HospiceCare. Lois married the love of her life Gary Buchanan on April 3, 1970, together they raised two lovely sons. Lois enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching, quilting and most of all, being a mother and grandmother. She took great joy in donating her handmade quilts to the VA Hospital and the men and women who served their county, as Gary had for 26 years in the US Army and WI Air National Guard. Many of her quilts were also cherished by the children at the Dane County Respite Center.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gary Buchanan; her sons, Patrick (Tonya) Buchanan and Jamie (Tanya) Buchanan; her granddaughter, Taylor Buchanan and grandsons Hunter and Tyler Sime.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dexter and Virginia Russell; her sisters, Robin (Karl) Kenyon and Eva Krause; and her niece, Angela Kenyon.

Lois’ family would like to extend a special thank you to her care team at UW Hospital B6/6, Carbone Cancer Center, and Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, WINDSOR/DEFOREST CHAPEL, 6924 Lake Road.
