Madison

Gloria Gene (Gerling) Kramer, a long-time resident of the Madison area, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at The Waterford in Plymouth. Gloria was born February 17,1931 in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Francis P. and Regina (Blakeslee) Gerling, and moved to Madison in 1955. She married James Kramer on Feb. 12, 1955, in Austin, Texas, at the St. Austin's Catholic Church. She graduated from MATC with a degree in building and drafting. Gloria owned and managed Jim’s Key and Security with her late husband for more than 17 years. She was involved in many service and community activities throughout her time in Madison. Gloria was an avid baker, sang in different choirs and enjoyed many forms of dancing. She also liked to play the piano, involve her family in home-made costumes, and had the biggest holiday spirit. Gloria was known for her eccentric holiday and Green Bay Packer outfits. She was a proud and strong willed Texan woman. Later in life, Jim and Gloria moved to the VA facility in King. After Jim’s passing, Gloria moved to Plymouth, where she enjoyed a peaceful life.

She is survived by five children, Gloria (Stephen) Bohn of Monmouth, Ill., Jackie Derra of Adams, Terry (Lillie) Kramer of Madison, Evelyn (Daniel) Green of Sheboygan, and Mary (Patrick) Price of Madison; 9 grandchildren, Tim (Sarah) Bohn, Angela (Jeffrey) Kuhn, T.J. Hook, Regina (Andrew) Schmiechen, Nicole, Donovan, Peter Green, Sean (Michelle) Price, Michael (Katie) Price; nine great-grandchildren, Kristen, Katie Bohn, Adam Bristol, Jason, Brody, Mary Price, Angela, Alex, Ally Kuhn; and one great-great granddaughter, Lilah Kuhn.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James R. Kramer; daughter, Linda F. Kramer; parents, Francis and Regina Gerling; siblings, Frank Gerling and Justine Gerling Brian.

A Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 413 Dempsey Road, Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Compassus Hospice, 79 N.
