Michael Colbert

Michael Dennis Colbert, age 63, was born on December 14, 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia, and entered into rest on December 12, 2016 in Madison, Wisconsin. Michael was the beloved son of Dennis William Colbert and Virginia Mae (ReCoy) Colbert. He lived in the Madison area for almost 60 years. His Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison, with Pastor Bob Stine officiating. A visitation will be also be held from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will follow services at Willwood Burial Park in Rockford, Illinois. Our hearts gazed upon you in the moon and sun light
ever spinning – spinning faster,
Like a Whirling Dervish in the Rose Garden
deep in conversation with the Creator,
Spinning many years encased in your cocoon
when you felt the hand rub softly on your back,
Hearing - “Are you ready my Son
to let me help with the last golden thread”,
It was a gentle caress forgotten with the years
as just beyond the wall the beginning of it all,
You hurried free at last without hesitation
before we had time to say the many words unspoken,
Our hearts fill with blessed memories
of our brief time spent with you,
Learning your daily lessons taught
of Love, Kindness, Caring, and especially Patience,
Brother now you have gone to be with familiar faces
and finally emerge the perfect butterfly,
Leaving us here to spin – ever spinning faster
deep in our own conversation with the Creator.
