Viola House

Verona-Viola Elizabeth House, age 90, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Willow Pointe in Verona. She was born in Powers, Michigan on March 2, 1926, the daughter of William and Emmaline (Brownell) Mitts. She married Eugene House on June 22, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They had three children; Cheryl Rae, James and William. Viola was a long term Verona resident and was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church since 1957. She and her husband were involved with the Verona Senior Center after their retirement by serving as board members and working with the Meals on Wheels program. They also were volunteer drivers with the RSVP program. Viola served faithfully through many different programs at her church. Viola enjoyed camping, playing dominos, cooking, reading, bird watching and spending time with her family.

Viola is survived by her children, James (Sandra) House and William House; grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah House; brother-in-law, Vic Lauer; many nieces and nephews; and dear family friends, Patricia Huxtable and Rita Martin along with the Martin family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Cheryl Rae; parents; siblings and in-laws.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Monday, December 19, 2016 at MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH, 201 S. Main St, Verona with Rev. Jeremy Scott presiding. Visitation will take place from 1pm to 3pm on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 220 Enterprise Dr, Verona, and again from 1pm until the time of service on Monday at the church. Burial will follow the service at Verona City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church or Agrace Hospice.
