Obituary
MADISON- Dorothy D. Peschel, age 99, passed away peacefully at Oak Pak Place on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. She was born in Lake Mills on February 17, 1917, the daughter of William and Martha (Klecker) Kilian. She graduated as Valedictorian of Lake Mills High School and married Leonard F. Peschel in August of 1934.
After raising 6 children and Leonard’s passing in 1962, Dorothy went back to school and worked part-time as a waitress. She later worked for USAFI and the State of Wisconsin Elections Board until her retirement. She later worked part-time at the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue until she was in her 80s. She travelled extensively to many places such as China, Russia, Israel, Egypt, and most of the U.S. with her sister-in-law, Ellen Kilian. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and as a champion of education.
She is survived by her children, Ron Peschel, Marrianne J. Culbertson, Karen (Tom) Schreiber and Richard (Charlene) Peschel, M.D.; her ten grandchildren, Marie (Tom) Pollard, Paul (Nancy) Schreiber, Gary (Tabatha) Schreiber, John (Andrea) Culbertson, William (Mary) Culbertson, Tom (Sarah) Culbertson, Alan (Nicole) Peschel, Brian (Jennifer) Peschel, Eric (Tara) Peschel, and Colette Peschel; her 13 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; her sister, Iris Reamer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 1962; her daughter, Doris Ann, 1938; her son, Charles, in 2016; and her siblings, Earl, Merlin, Harold, Ruby, Marion and Gloria.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1128 St. James Ct., Madison, with Msgr. Thomas Baxter presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday. Burial will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Madison.
