Robert Greene

MIDDLETON/DEFOREST/ CROSS PLAINS - Robert (Bob) Greene, 91, passed away on December 30, 2016.

Born Aug 27, 1925 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, he was a long time resident of the greater Madison area.

Bob was blessed with a wife (Marion) whose devotion has been unparalleled throughout their 69+ years of marriage. By turn his family has been blessed with the amazing love story he and “Dolly” lived, and left, as an example for the generations that follow.

Bob was a man who nurtured his interest in the world through travel; enjoyed the Packer’s season with gusto and caught more than his share of fish out of Wisconsin’s lakes and rivers. His motto. “Always have something to look forward to,” served him well and provided the impetus to a full, interesting and meaningful life. He challenged himself throughout his 91 years and never shied away from taking a risk for the betterment of his family.

A man of creativity and mechanical intellect, he used any and all resources available to rebuild old cars, be the household handyman and master the latest electronics.

Above all, Bob enjoyed his family and friends. Always one to enjoy a pizza and offer a beer, the family will remember him with a private ceremony followed by pizza and Spotted Cow while he watches over them with a smile.

He will be remembered with great love and admiration and his life’s legacy will be passed through his children, Al Greene (Diana), Diane Esser (George), Nancy Niesen (Greg), Mary Greene (Kevin Hughes), Bob Greene (Yuki Fujiwara), his six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Bob’s personal caretakers and the incredible staff of the Madison VA Hospital for their compassion, kindness and professionalism during the last years of Bob’s life.
