Richard Meier

Madison – Richard “Rick” L. Meier, age 75, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare, surrounded by his family. He was born at home on March 21, 1941 in Cuba City, Wis., the son of Arnold and Emma (Rowe) Meier. He graduated from high school in Savanna, IL., in 1960. Rick married Vicki Williams in 1961, and together they had a son Rick.

He met Lucy (Poss) Meier in 2002, and they were married on January 2, 2004. Together they enjoyed their cabin up north in Algoma, Wis., fishing in Canada, and spending time with their grandkids. Rick was an avid car guy and loved to cook for friends and family.

Rick worked as a barber on Park St. for over 50 years. During that time he enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of his loyal clients. He continued to love being a barber until his retirement on December 29, 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy; son, Rick (Kris) and their daughters, Lizzie and Katie; daughter, Emily (Tim) Schneider and their sons, Theodore and William; daughter, Kate (Kirk) Swenson and their sons, Drew and Dylan; his sisters, Beverly Meier and Shirley (Gary) Belk; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave, Madison. Friends and family will be invited to share memories at 12:30 p.m. A reception at The Esquire Club in Madison will follow.
