Obituary
Madison- Allan George Hafeman, age 72, died Thursday morning, January 5th, 2017 at Agrace Hospice, after so bravely fighting pancreatic cancer for 26 months.
Allan was born April 5, 1944 in Milwaukee, WI to Clyde and Wilma Merder. He graduated from Pius XI High School in 1962 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from UW Milwaukee in 1966. After graduating, he moved to Madison where he became employed at the state of WI Department of Transportation and Administration, for which he worked for 36 years prior to retiring in 2002. Allan served as a member of the 44th General Hospital Army Reserves from 1966 to 1972. He married Marnee Loose (Westfield, WI) in 1969 and was blessed with two children (Angela and Steven). After retiring, he worked part-time reading meters for the Village of McFarland for five years. He loved being outside, walking, and actually getting paid for it!
Allan had a passion for hiking, biking, kayaking, and running...basically anything active and under the sun! He curled for 40 years at the Madison Curling Club and truly enjoyed all the wonderful friends he met in his curling community. Al had a deep love for anything baseball related- whether playing as a child, coaching his son’s teams through the years, or taking in any game possible.
Above all, Allan was a loving and devoted husband, caring father, and wonderful grandfather. He always put his family first and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Allan is survived by his wife, Marnee; his daughter, Angela; his son, Steven; daughter in law Tracy; grandchildren, Lydia, William, Evelyn, and Callan; sisters, Bonnie, Carol (Fred); and many great nieces and nephews. Allan was preceded in death by his parents; Wilma and Clyde Hafeman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Madison. The Rev. Randy Timmerman will officiate. Luncheon will follow the mass at MADISON CURLING CLUB, McFarland.
