Madison –
Jeanette Carol Carlson, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2017 in Madison. Born at home on the family farm in Wiota Township, WI the daughter of James and Minnie (Rude) Mollrud, Jeanette attended Wiota Township Grade School and graduated from Argyle High School. She met her future husband, Dale Carlson at Crandall’s restaurant in Madison and they were united in marriage on October 12, 1946. They were blessed to celebrate 69 years of marriage before Dale’s death in 2015.
Jeanette was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who found great joy in raising her family and caring for her grandchildren. Jeanette and Dale traveled extensively internationally and enjoyed taking their family on an annual Christmas trip for 30 years to Fort Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Florida. Jeanette was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. An avid gardener and follower of all current events, Jeanette was a fabulous cook who loved antiquing, chocolate and coffee.
She is survived by her four children: Mary Jo (William) Vollrath of Woodstock, Ill., Craig (Patricia) Carlson of Madison, Wis., Connie (Greg) Carlson of Dakota Dunes, S.D. and John (Maria) Carlson of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and sister, May Kennedy of Madison, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, her parents, brothers, Harlan and Laverne “Bun” Mollrud, sisters, Margaret Curry, Ruth O’Connor, Mavis Olson, Marie Albert and Dorothy Chambers and son-in-law, Michael Welcome.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Road, Madison.
