John James DeRocher, age 79, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord at Agrace HospiceCare on September 16, 2017 after battling Alzheimer’s for many years. He was born November 18, 1937 in Shullsburg, to Louis and Loretta (Francis) DeRocher.
Following graduation from Shullsburg High School in 1955, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force and following his discharge attended U.W. Madison. After college, he farmed in Darlington and later owned The Great Pecatonica Farm Store in Darlington. He and his son then ran an air conditioning service company for many years. He married Maribeth Sartori Menge in 2000 and they lived in Darlington, later moving to Waunakee.
John is survived by his wife, Maribeth; son, Daniel (Sue); daughter, Jill (Fred) Baez; three sisters, LouAnn Scholl, Mary Jo (Mike) Dusing, Lynette Holland; brother, Bill (Rose) DeRocher; grandchildren, Nick and Amber Baez and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Loretta DeRocher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at ST. MARY OF THE LAKE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5460 Mary Lake Road, Westport, with Msgr. James Gunn presiding. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. His final resting place will be St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery.
