Obituary
Madison-Thomas L. “Tom” Mather, 83, died at home surrounded by his loving family on September 21, 2017. Tom was born on May 31, 1934, in Merrimac, WI to Walter and Sybella (Wartner) Mather. He married Mary Brady on May 28, 1960 at St. Mary’s Richland Center, and was a City of Madison fire fighter for over 25 years.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary; children, David (Nancy), Kevin (Shannon), John (Susie), Paul (Wendy), Karen (Dan) Patton and Eric (Kim); grandchildren, Lindsay, Kasey (Fabi), J.P., David, Stevo, Patrick, Ryan, Jessica, Elizabeth and Emily; brother, Robert (Lorelei) Mather; sisters, Marian (Les) Hanneman, Aileen Reilly, Frances (Paul) Breitbach, Sr. Judy Mather, Nancy Voss, Evelyn Mather and Laurel (Bob) Walker; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom loved his cabin in Richland Center where he enjoyed being out in the woods with a chain saw and playing cards of any sort; and to garden in his backyard. In his earlier years, Tom was active in Cub Scouts and Westmorland youth hockey.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Tom will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave, Madison. Visitation will be at the church from 9am until the time of mass.
