Obituary
Madison – Jeanne E. Hurley, age 93, passed away November 7, 2017. She was born on November 1, 1924 to Raymond and Bernice Milfred in Cazenovia, WI.
She was married to Harold Hurley for 71 years, raising three sons. Jeanne was an accomplished artist, carver, and maker of handmade teddy bears (Bears by Jeanne). Her paintings won awards at Madison art shows and sold at Fanny Garver Studios. Her bears sold at many gift shops around the country. She was employed by Blied Printers and Central Colony. She was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Madison, where her sons attended school. She loved animals, especially cats, which she often painted.
She is survived by her sons, Skip (Shirley) Hurley, Dan (Pam Waddell) Hurley and Sean (Janna) Hurley; sister, Mary Lou Gavin; sister-in-law, Mary Milfred; grandchildren, Debi Wall, Shane Hurley, Jesse Hurley, Amy Torrey, Lindsey Sullivan, Mallory Hurley and Natalie Hurley; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, and her brother Leon Milfred.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m until the time of service.
