WAUNAKEE/DEFOREST – Antoinette B. Haakenson, age 99, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017. Antoinette was born on May 11, 1918 in Vienna Township to Hans and Olena Ulvestad. She graduated from DeForest High School in 1936. She married Leo Haakenson on September 7, 1940 in The Little Brown Church in the Valley in Iowa. She had a strong faith and was a long time member of the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church. Antoinette enjoyed playing cards and bingo and socializing with her friends. Antoinette was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Antoinette is survived by her son Don Haakenson, many nieces and nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo and 8 siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at SPRING PRAIRIE LUTHERAN, N509 County Rd C, Keyeser, with Rev. Sylvia Lee-Thompson presiding. A visitation will be held from 10AM until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at Norway Grove Cemetery.
