Obituary
MADISON - Carol L. Tiedt Gouker, age 60, passed away on, Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born at home on Christmas day in 1957 in Madison, WI. The fourth child of Leo & Betty (Toonen) Tiedt.
Carol was born a normal healthy baby, but at the age of six months contracted meningitis that left her physically and mentally disabled. Despite her many health setbacks, Carol lead a very normal life. She went to regular public school and graduated in 1976 from Madison East. As a young adult she moved out of her parents’ home and lived independently most of her adult life. She loved all things music and was often heard singing at the top of her lungs to her favorite group the Partridge Family.
There wasn’t a joke Carol didn’t laugh at or a bingo game she didn’t win. Pepsi was her soda of choice but also loved it when you brought her a McDonald’s Chocolate shake. She will be remembered as a sweet, cheerful lady with a childlike innocence and the most beautiful blue eyes. Let the memories of Carol be of happy and laughing times.
Survivors include her siblings, Donna (Ken) Critchfield, Dan (Ann) Tiedt, Ken (Barb) Tiedt, Jo (David) Kippert, Jim (Mary Langer) Tiedt, and Andy (Janice) Tiedt; husband, David Gouker; nephews and nieces, James (Jackie) Critchfield, Beth (Brad) Ingraham, Jon (Danielle) Tiedt, Amy (Grant Whitcraft) Tiedt, Caitlyn (Jarrod Schleusner) Kippert, Kelsey Kippert, Heather (Johnell Smith) Tiedt, Erik, Logan and Grace Tiedt, Meaghan, Ashlyn and Tessa Tiedt along with 20 great nieces and nephews.
The family extends its deep appreciation to the memory care staff of WI Dells Health Services, not only for the wonderful care they provided to our sister but also their friendship.
There will be a private family memorial gathering. Memorials may be made to the WI Dells Health Services, 300Race Street, WI Dells, WI 53965.
