Duane “Red” Klute, age 83, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born to Leonard and Mary (Meade) Klute and was happy to share his birthday with his brother, Don. Red graduated from Lodi High School. He married Joyce Nedderman. Red entered in to the U.S. Army and he proudly served until his honorable discharge. Red worked as a salesman for the Butler Paper Company for 28 years until his retirement. He loved fishing and his annual family fishing trips. He was an avid sports fan and was very active in various sports in his youth. Red cherished the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; his children: Pam (Randy) Klute, Kim (Perry) Custer, Kevin (Ada) Klute, Chel (Brian) Buttchen and Tracy (Shel) Klute; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Madelyn) Klute; sister-in-law, Gale (John) Werth and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Klute, sisters-in-law, Donna Klute and Jane Peterson and nephew, Michael Peterson.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Parkside Assisted Living for their wonderful care, DeForest EMS and the compassionate staff and chaplain at St. Mary’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
