Obituary
DeForest – James G. “Jim” Belda, age 80, passed away suddenly from a heart issue on Monday, April 23, 2018. He was born on March 12, 1938 in Madison, WI the son of Conrad and Marie (Miller) Belda. Jim went to the University of Wisconsin. He was a dairy farmer until he retired in 1998. He went back to school and worked as a diesel mechanic until 2008. Jim was in the Air National Guard and had his private pilot’s license. He was an active member of St. Olaf’s Parish and a member of the church’s choir. Jim enjoyed woodworking and was always making things for his family and the church. Jim married Sue Ann (Dietrick) on October 25, 1985 and he inherited a large ready-made family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sue Ann; his children, Pattie, Jim (Mary), Jon (Becky), Susie (Steve), Jack (Lily), Kristy, Kelly (John); 9 grandchildren; siblings, Susie (Laverne) and Allan; and other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann (Lyle); and grandson, Jacob.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 3 at ST OLAF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 623 Jefferson St., DeForest, with Fr. Vincent Brewer presiding. Visitation will take place from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Rd, DeForest. A Rosary will be said at 7pm. A second visitation will take place on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the church from 10am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service St. Olaf Cemetery.
