Clara Mayr

DEFOREST- Clara E. Mayr, age 91, died peacefully at home on July 4, 2018. She was born at home in Windsor on January 13, 1927, the daughter of Arnie and Gertrude (Hohlstein) Anhalt. She graduated from DeForest High School in 1944. Clara married Fred J. Mayr on October 13, 1951 in Bristol.

She worked as a teller at DMB Community Bank, dairy farmed with her husband on their farm, worked seasonally at Scott’s Candy and was the number 1 employee at Country Bloomers Greenhouse. Clara was a lifetime member of Christian Faith Moravian Church in DeForest and was a member of the Golden Triangle Drifters Snowmobile Club. She loved bowling, embroidery, crocheting, rosemaling, gardening, camping, fishing and doing puzzles. She gave blood at the Red Cross for many years.

She is survived by her children, Donna (Mark) Kern, Jerry (Cheryl) Mayr and Gary (Diane) Mayr; grandchildren, Craig (Meghan) Nowlen, Chad (Anna) Mayr, Jason (Christy) Mayr, Katie Kern, Tracy (Dan) Gast, Brittany (Nick) Blecha, and Melissa Mayr; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; son, Lary; granddaughter, Amanda Mayr; sister, Erna Anhalt; and brother, Arthur Anhalt.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Diane Mayr, Anna Mayr, Tracy Robson, Cleo Paulman and Heartland Hospice for their excellent care of Clara.

Memorials would be appreciated to Heartland Hospice or CFMC Building Fund.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018 at CHRISTIAN FAITH MORAVIAN CHURCH, 805 E. Holum St., DeForest with the Rev. Jason Andersen presiding. Burial will follow at Moravian Cemetery in DeForest. Visitations will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, WINDSOR/ DEFOREST CHAPEL, 6924 Lake Road, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Monday.
