Bruce Johnson

MADISON/DeFOREST – Bruce B. Johnson, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Bruce was born on December 2, 1944 in Madison, WI to Otis and Winnifred “Winnie” (Neve) Johnson. He graduated from Central High School in 1963. After graduation he joined Barnum & Bailey Circus, where he performed nationwide as a clown. Upon returning to Madison, he worked in several bars in Madison as a “Tar Bender”. He retired from Wisconsin State Service in 2004 after 25 years.

After two days of dating, he proposed to the love of his life, Marcia Stebbins. They got married on November 20, 1971. Bruce enjoyed fishing, grilling out, many trips to Florida, and spending time with his family and “his puppies”. Bruce was very well known for cruising around town on his Vespa Scooter, usually with a girl on the back. Bruce was quite the jokester, he had a funny sense humor that was brightened by his contagious smile. He was always ready for a hug or a handshake. Bruce was an amazing husband and father, he will be greatly missed.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marcia; daughter, Tobey (Tiffany); sister, Nancy (Jerry) Wolfe. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Lori (Ed) Borkus.

A Celebration of Life will be held at BRUCE'S HOUSE on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from NOON until 5PM.
