CHAMPAIGN - Helen Groven Greenstein passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on December 20, 2018.
Helen was born October 1, 1923 in Stoughton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Halvor and Gertrude (Quam) Groven. She lived in Stoughton until she graduated from high school in 1941. After moving to Madison, Wisconsin, she met her future husband, Orie Greenstein. The Greenstein family relocated from Madison to Champaign in 1958. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Orie; and by her three sisters Ruth (Groven) Lipke, Lorraine (Groven) Elphinstone, and Arlene (Groven) Botelson. Helen is survived by her five children, Lewis (Lynn) Greenstein of Carbondale, Alan ‘Lanny’ Greenstein of Urbana, Larry Greenstein of Anchorage, Alaska, Lee (Lisa) Greenstein of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lori Greenstein Bremner of Sonoma, California; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Helen was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her entire family. The family is very grateful to Vickie Denius for providing many years of professional and loving care to our mother.
