Obituary
MADISON – George M. Erdmann, age 78, passed away peacefully, from an extended illness on Monday, March 11, 2019. George was born on February 22, 1941 to George and Adeline (Tessmann) Erdmann. He grew up in the Watertown/Jefferson area. George was a U.S. Army Veteran who was honorably discharged in January of 1962, serving 3 years in the service. He was proud to be an American. George prided himself on being a truck driver for years. He was an avid deer hunter, rarely ever missing an opportunity to hunt Rockstead Tower, near Delta, WI, every year. He was the founding member of the “Acorn Gang” and now is reunited with his best hunting partners, Richard and Tony. He also was a great fisherman, enjoyed NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, the Badgers, and playing Euchre. George was also an accomplished cook. He was gifted at making something out of nothing. He made, arguably, some of the best chili and goulash around. You never left a meal of his hungry…if you did, it was your own fault. George was quite the character, quick-witted and funny but also could be “serious as a heart attack” and not let things “slide”. He wasn’t shy about letting people know how he felt and did so regularly. George will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.
George is survived by his siblings, Beverly Neal, Lloyd (Sally), and Lois (Roland) Zabel. He is further survived by a large and extended family and many friends, including his good friend of more than 50 years, Linda. George is preceded in death by his parents; son, George; siblings, Georgiann (Lefty) Carsley, Wallace, and Bobbie (Phil) Luebke.
Graveside services will performed at the Windsor Congregational Cemetery on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11AM, with Deacon Todd Martin presiding. Military honors will also be administered at that time. A gathering will be held immediately following the service at the Locker Room, 1810 Roth Street, Madison, to share memories.
