Sheryl Helleis

Deforest- Sheryl J. Helleis passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with

cancer on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was

born on October 23, 1956 to Gunther and Irene (Szews) Miller. Sheryl married the love

of her life Walter on August 10, 1974 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Menomonee

Falls, WI.

Sheryl was proud to work for 39 years as the Office Manager for the Waunakee Police

Department. She was also a loving caregiver for her husband throughout the years.

Sheryl enjoyed reading, crosswords, traveling and also became a accomplished cook.

She was a animal lover who found great pleasure in donating to many different animal

causes. Her dog soulmate was a West Highland white terrier named Charlie.

Sheryl is survived by her husband; brother, Bruce “Boo” (Karen) Miller; sister-in-law,

Erna (Jesse) Piatek; niece, Joanne (Jason) Hodach; nephew, Aaron (Becky) Miller;

mother-in-law, Hildegard Helleis; stepfather Bernie Schaefer; stepsister, Leanne (Kevin)

Scina, Barb Hock and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

A private family service will be held.

A heartfelt thank you to Agrace Hospice Care and the Oncology staff and doctors at the

Carbone Cancer Center at University of Wisconsin Hospital.
