Obituary
Lois Marie Young, age 66, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena. She was born in Madison, WI on October 1, 1958, the daughter of Roger and Helen (Karls) Ripp. Lois graduated from Waunakee High School in 1976. She went on to attend the University of Wisconsin Madison. She would take a break from her schooling to marry and raise a family but would later graduate from the university with a BA degree in Psychology in 1998. Lois married Donald Young on December 20, 1980, at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church in Waunakee. Together, Donald and Lois had three children. Lois was a wonderful mother. She was a strong woman who had to raise her children alone after Donald’s passing in 1993. Lois was a fun mom who liked to travel and give her family new adventures and memories. She enjoyed life and liked golfing, walking, listening to music and water aerobics.
Lois is survived by her children, Renee (Jason) Argraves, Don (Melissa) Young and Nick (Carley) Young; grandchildren, Jack, Ellie, Asher, Grace, Wyatt, Emily, Abigail, Colton and Blake; mother, Helen Ripp; siblings, Mary (Daryl Wipperfurth) Ripp, Pat (Cathy) Ripp, Mike (Diane) Ripp, Carol (Dan) Chesemore, Jane (Gary) Epping, Paul (Nadine) Ripp, Mark (Mary) Ripp, Roger (Michelle) Ripp, Joyce (Russ) Endres and Shirley (Mike Blackmore) Ripp; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Young; her father, Roger Ripp; a nephew, Peter Ripp; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St, Waunakee. Burial will take place at St. Olaf’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lois’ name to Columbia County Health Care Center Foundation in Wyocena.

Lois was the most optimistic person I have ever met. The picture on the obituary - that smile is how she looked every day. ~ Lauri Crook
