Robert W. Hook age 97 was called home to be with our Lord on November 24, 2020.

He was born in Lodi, the son of William and Harriet (Haddie) Hook. He met Betty at a high school dance and the two were married on October 13, 1943 in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. While serving in the Army in WWII, Bob was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and was a prisoner of war in numerous German prison camps. Bob was also awarded the Purple Heart.

God was with him during this time and blessed him by allowing him to return home to his loving wife. Since that day and for the following 75 years, they have formed a marriage made in heaven and their undying love and devotion for each other has always shined brightly.

Bob started his employment with Oscar Mayer in the sales department and through his hard work and dedication moved up the ladder in the company. Bob retired at age 48 as the Manager of Sales and Service for Canned Meats worldwide.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, he worked with Betty on maintaining and managing the numerous apartments they had purchased over the years.

Bob was also an avid golfer and longtime member at the Maple Bluff Country Club. He had a hole in one as well as receiving many other awards for his golfing skills.

After Bob’s retirement, the two would travel south to Florida for the winter months and stay in their motor home. Bob would fish off the docks and Betty would collect shells. After a number of years, they bought a home in Englewood, Florida to spend their winters. Along with making improvements on the home and landscaping with Betty, Bob would take his boat and fish in the inter coastal waterway and even out on the gulf. He was successful most times and would return with many varieties of fresh sea food for their dining pleasure, with plenty of extra to freeze and bring back to Wisconsin, for the summer months.

Bob had a very strong faith in God and was a longtime member of St Paul Lutheran Church. Bob and Betty volunteered their time at the local thrift shop and gave generously to many charities.

He is survived by his brothers Wayne and John (Carolyn), and sister-in-law Sondra.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty, his parents, half-brother Almon and brothers William, George and Richard “Tub” and sisters-in-law Alice and Dorothy.

A Private family funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2126 N. Sherman Ave with the Revered Grant Sorensen presiding. Burial will follow at Greenwood cemetery in Leeds Center.
