Obituary

Jean M. (Johnson) Payne, age 79, passed away holding hands with the love of her life for 60 years, husband Daniel “Dan” Payne on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. She was born on December 17, 1944, to Clifford and Adeline (Kreier) Johnson in Poynette, WI. Jean was raised on a farm in Keyser until 1960 and then moved to DeForest, graduating in 1963. Jean married Dan Payne on June 29, 1964, in Rockford, IL.

Jean had a strong faith and was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leeds. Jean’s greatest joy was having her family close by and spending time with all of them. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary as a past President and the Dorcus Society.

Jean is survived by her husband; children, Donnie (Dawn Krogman) Payne, Dawn (John) Cimaroli, Dale (Diane) Payne; grandchildren, Justin (Molly), Matthew, Steph, Zack (Kelsy), Angela, Trentin (Kallie), Grant; 2 great grandchildren; in-laws, Kathy Johnson, Betty (George) Conom; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clifford; brother-in-law, Bob (Harriet); and niece, Kristi.

The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare and especially thank you to nurse Kendra and Pastoral staff at Zion.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, W6906 County Road K, Arlington, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Dan, Dawn, & all of Jean's family: My Deepest Sympathy at the passing of my dear friend Jean. So many memories of our times with the Legion Auxiliary. I would also call her as I drove to work to "catch up". I will truly miss this great lady & friend. May she Rest in Peace. Carole McCormick
