Dodgeville- Robert Leon “Bob” Oyler died peacefully in his sleep on May 6, 2022, at Upland Hills Hospital. He was 78. Bob was born in Jackson, MS and was adopted by John and Catherine (Beckley) Oyler of Indianapolis, IN. Bob was an only child.

Bob grew up in the city but often spent time on his grandparents’ farm, which sparked his lifelong love of animals. In high school, Bob was involved in the Golf Team, Senior Council, Concert Band & Orchestra, Latin Club and was very proud to have been the Drum Major of the marching band at Arsenal Technical High School. After graduation in 1962, Bob attended Butler University on a full scholarship for being the Editor-in-Chief and the Chief Photographer of the Butler “Drift” Yearbook. In addition to his yearbook activities, Bob was also a brother of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Bob graduated from Butler University in 1966 with B.S. in Sociology. Bob then moved to Wisconsin to attend graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduating with his M.S. in Sociology, Bob went on to be a very successful entrepreneur. Bob owned several successful businesses in the Madison area throughout his life, including Life style Staffing, The Employer Group and Capital City Harley Davidson.

While Bob was a proud businessman, he believed his most important accomplishment in his life was being a father to his three daughters. Bob raised his first two daughters, Kelly and Stephanie, in Sauk Prairie, WI as a single dad in a time when that was very rare. After retiring in 2013, Bob dedicated his time to co-parenting his third daughter, Mia in Dodgeville, WI and fostering their shared love of horses and barrel racing. Bob also appreciated the many friendships he made and was proud to have connected with so many people in the Southern Wisconsin community over his lifetime.

Bob is survived by his three daughters: Kelly Oyler (Zachary Farrar), Stephanie Oyler, and Mia Schroeder-Oyler, as well as his beloved dogs Sam and Oscar. Bob is preceded in death by his father, John Oyler, and mother, Catherine Oyler.

Bob’s daughters would like to thank the wonderful staff at Upland Hills, Meriter Hospital, Wisconsin Rehabilitation Hospital, and Crestridge Memory Care for taking such great care of their dad during the last 15 months of his life.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona. A time to share memories will follow the visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

I worked for Bob at Lifestyle Staffing for almost 7 years. Bob was a great businessman and did learn a lot from him. I was lucky in the early years working for him to have contributed to the success of Lifestyle staffing. His personality was unique, and always brings a smile to my face when I think of him. To Kelly and Stephanie, and am so sorry for your loss. Stephanie, I would love to hear from you at some point on what Bob had been doing the last 10 to 12 years

I worked at Badger Swimpools and took care of Bobs pool for many years. He was always doing his chores outside when I was there either with the stable or mowing the yard and the 1/4 mile long driveway. I always enjoyed talking to him about events, etc. I'm so sorry to see this obituary.

I remember Bob when he owned Capitol City Harley. We went riding with him many times. Rick and Barbara Baggs, Really nice guy.

I did business with Bob for quite a few years and across his many businesses. He was always forthright and someone I could trust. Bob had a rye sense of humor and was astute as a businessman. I had a lot of respect for his judgement and willingness to take risk. He was one of a kind. My best regards to Kelly who I also got to know a little bit. Bob was very devoted to his kids, talking about what they were up to frequently. I will always have good memories for having known Bob..his memory brings a smile to my face.

Bob and I were good friends at Tech HS. We lived fairly close to one another and often traveled to school together. He was warm and friendly and smart and we "hung out" a lot. I left Indy for college and then moved to BY state in an era where it was difficult to keep in touch. In recent years especially, I wondered where Bob was. I had hoped to see him at our 50th reunion and recently kept my fingers crossed that he would be at our 60th in September. Bob was a wonderful young man. And it is clear from the obituary that he was a wonderful man and father. I too raised children as a single parent so we had somewhat parallel lives.
