Deborah Eileen “Deb”, “China Doll”, “O.G. Deb”, “Foots” Cary, age 63, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at UW Hospital. She was born on July 26, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Jerry and Bobbie (Barlow) Gibson.
She was an unbreakable mother of three, kind and caring grandmother and great grandmother, strong and dependable sister, and a best friend to many.
She had a colorful personality and aura about her that made everyone feel good, welcoming and inviting. She could befriend and approach anyone regardless of your background, preference, age, race, religion etc. and you could have your shields down around her. She was a straight shooter and tuff cookie but was understanding and always there when you needed her. She liked a good conversation, baking cakes, gardening and spoiling her grandkids and great grandchildren. She was a fearless Mother that didn't sugar coat anything, because she knew the world that we lived in. Kept the grandkid’s pockets with something in it, regardless of their age. She was fair even when she didn't have to be. She was effortlessly funny and was always good company. She taught us to do for others and be kind to strangers for you might be interacting with an Angel. Little did we know she was our Angel the whole time and she just got her wings.
Deborah is survived by her three children, Kenyatta (Vinnie) Gibson, Monique (Brian) Smith and Robert (Amanda) Cary; grandchildren: Shamika Carter, Domonique Chambers, Destiny Williamson, Desiree Gibson, Jayshawn Simmons, Ja’Vion Simmons, Na’Lah Cary, Kyah Cary, Tyson Cary, Robert Cary III, Kaivannah Rice, Jabari Simmons and Kavion Simmons; great-grandchildren, Jakobi, Terrianna, Trayvon, Terreon, Deshawn and one on the way; siblings, Rochelle Bozeman, Tanya (Bennie) Maddox, Jerry (Merdice) Gibson and Michael (Emma) Gibson; and also many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Jessie Bozeman and nephew, Morrice Cortez Gibson.
A private funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Madison, WI with Pastor Grant Sorenson officiating. Interment will follow at Blooming Grove Cemetery.
