MADISON – Judith “Judy” Ann Fitzpatrick, age 71, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2021 at Metta Homes in Montello, WI. She was born on August 23, 1949 in Wauwatosa, WI.

Judy attended Shorewood Hills Elementary School, where she met the love of her life, Patrick Michael Fitzpatrick, later uniting in marriage on June 3, 1972. Judy was a 1968 graduate and band member of Central High School and earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. During her school years, Judy was a camper and scout attending Camp Singing Hills, later becoming a camp counselor as well as a lifeguard. She was always an advocate for music and the arts; participating with her three daughters in the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra (WYSO) for 15 years. Also an advocate for nature; she enjoyed visiting the Aldo Leopold Nature Center and each Arbor Day she, along with her family, planted 50 trees. Judy was honored with the Outstanding Distinguished Citizen’s Achievement Award from the Marine Corps League, where she volunteered for over 20 years alongside her husband, Patrick. She loved horses, camping, flower gardening, attending the theater, and visiting Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. Above all, she LOVED her five grandchildren and being a grandma. She will be remembered for her love of life and determination to help others.

Judy is survived by her husband, Patrick Fitzpatrick; daughters, Colleen Fitzpatrick (Tommy Phillips, Jr.), Kelly Fitzpatrick, Kathleen “Katie” Fitzpatrick (Chris McCarthy); grandchildren, Harold IV “Harry” and Taylor Patterson, Connor, Kian, and Finnegan McVey; siblings, Scott (Melissa) Boyd, Jeffrey (Renee) Boyd, and Lisa Boyd; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marie Bjork, Maureen (Ronald) Andreozzi, Monica (Eric) Arredondo, Molly (Florin) Anicete, Margaret (Don) Klinger, Mike Fitzpatrick, Ira Nye. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, Adrienne Klinger (Scott Smail), Ashley Anicete, Justin (Sandy) Boyd, Christopher (Alli) Anicete, Andrew Arredondo, Ryan (Heather) Boyd, Talia Bongiovani, Christian and Benjamin Nye; great-nieces and great-nephews, Cohen, Brennen and Chesney McKail, Beau and Amelia Anicete, Elizabeth Golosnaia; as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bradford and Marianne (Hebblethwaite) Boyd; parents-in-law, John and Mary Jane (Sweeney) Fitzpatrick; and sister-in-law, Mona Nye.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Erin Bentley and staff at Metta Homes, staff of Agnesian Hospice Hope, and the doctors and nurses of St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as, an extra special thank you to Peter Hanson and Mike Fitzpatrick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2021 at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, WI 53714, with Fr. Randy J. Timmerman presiding. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
