Madison - Stephanie Rae Herfel, age 54, passed away on July 8, 2021. She was surrounded with love. Stephanie was born on October 6, 1966 in Los Angeles, California to Charles Berman Cadwallender and Velma Kay (Crews) Cadwallender Lenahan. Stephanie proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps from 1984 to 1989 and as a Federal Procurement Official from 1989 to 2010. She then launched and owned her own business as a procurement consultant. She relocated from San Diego, California to Madison, Wisconsin in 2012.
She married the love of her life, James Allen Herfel, in 2017. For the past 8 years, Stephanie bravely battled both Ovarian Cancer and Acute Myeloid Leukemia, building awareness and advocacy for change, along with her beloved canine companion, Sierra Belle. Stephanie cherished life and lived it with dignity, grace, joy and impact.
Stephanie is survived by her husband Jim, sons Alex (and April) and Jon (and Emily), Kelli and Steve, her Fried Eggs Group and a multitude of loving family and friends.
Services will be held at Ryan Funeral Home, North Side Chapel, 2418 North Sherman Ave, Madison on Thursday, July 15th at 2 p.m. Visitation will take place from noon to the time of service on Thursday at the Funeral Home.
