John R. Larsen, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 23, 2021. John was born on March 5, 1942 in Beloit Wisconsin, the son of John and Margaret Larsen. He attended South Beloit High School followed by 4 years in the United States Air Force. John was a life-long Beloit Wisconsin resident until 2010 when he and his wife Caroll moved to Madison Wisconsin to be closer to family.
John was involved in the Beloit Wi. community for most of his life and loved reading about and discussing the history of Beloit. John worked at the Wisconsin Telephone Company, Sears, Wickes Lumber and Dr. Detail. While living in Beloit, John was an avid gardener and loved sharing his bounty with friends and neighbors. John loved to cook and was famous for his steaks on the grill and his baked bean dish. John had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh with his offbeat remarks. John was an animal lover and always had rescue pets and strays. He loved keeping all of his bird feeders well stocked. John’s greatest gift was his ability to be a caretaker. He and his wife Caroll took in Caroll’s mother Stella Kauffman to care for her for 10 years until she moved to an assisted living center. John had an enormous heart and was always thinking about how he could help people solve problems and give advice. He was an avid reader and researcher of all things related to news, technology and health. John loved his family with all of his heart.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Caroll (Christensen) Larsen of Madison, WI, daughter Noelle (Sandra Riley) Larsen of Madison, Wi, Son, Brian Larsen of Naperville IL, granddaughter, Emily Larsen of Schaumburg IL , grandson, Ryan Larsen of Warrenville IL and his beloved cat George and his granddog Jax.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Larsen and his sister, Anna Larsen.
Private interment will be held at a later date at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit Wi.
