Obituary
VERONA - Clifford Valentine Fassbender, 94, passed away in peace in the hands of the Lord on July 28, 2021. Clifford was born at the family farm in the town of Roxbury, WI on February 17, 1927, to Carl and Leontina Fassbender. He was never shy of hard work and he was born to be a farmer. Working the land, driving tractor right up to his final years here on this earth. His lifelong faith in God was unwavering and comforting to him right to the end of his life.
On February 3, 1951, he was united in marriage to Doris Dunn. They dairy farmed in Evansville, WI when they were first married. They raised a family of five and farmed several decades on two farms in Verona, WI. A farm known to many in the Verona area as the “Walt Disney Farm”. A Mickey Mouse Club series of episodes were filmed there in the 1950’s. There were so many cherished times spent on the farm with family and friends. Retiring from dairy farming in 1988, Clifford went on to spend over 30 more years working for farmer friends. Friends that he was so thankful for, too numerous to list. He loved his time spent going for his morning coffee at McDonald’s and evening coffee at Culver’s visiting with his friends and his employee friends. Shopping trips to Miller and Sons supermarket was another visit he loved to make. Most of all he cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a very proud Grampa and he was loved by them so much!
He is survived by his loving five children, Diane (Randy) Brandenburg of Harmony Grove, WI, Marlin (Brenda) Fassbender of Tylertown, MS, Cheryl (Fred) Andree of Belleville, WI, Denise (Jan Peterson) Fassbender of Madison, WI, Kevin (Jayne) Fassbender of Blue Mounds, WI; eleven grandchildren, Todd Brandenburg, Heather Wiersba, Jamie Brandenburg, Jason (Angie) Erickson, Nathan (Jen) Andree, Chris Andree, Craig (Andrea) Andree, Katy (Adam) Bruski, Andrew (Traci) Fassbender, Melissa (Mathew) Winters, Maggie Fassbender; fifteen great grandchildren with a Bruski baby on the way in September. He is also survived by his brothers Richard (Eleanor) Fassbender, Leroy (Barbara) Fassbender and sister Joann (Ken) Fredrick.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris, his grandson Jesse, parents Carl and Leontina, brothers and sister, Raymond (Opal) Fassbender, Leon (Caroline) Fassbender, Carol (Earl) Schmitt, Jack (Ellie) Fassbender and an infant sister Janet.
A Mass of Cristian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at St Christopher (St Andrew’s) Catholic Church, 301 N Main St, Verona, WI. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m. Following there will be a luncheon at the Verona American Legion Hall 207 Legion St, Verona, WI 53593.
A special thank you goes to all of our father’s friends who supported and visited with him right up until he passed. Thank you to all his friends at 117 Berkley Road. He thought the world of you all! Thank you to the staff at Willow Point and Heartland Hospice Care. You really made Cliff’s final days special to him and his family.
