DEFOREST/DANE - Frank John Heimbecker, age 69, passed away on Tuesday evening October 12, 2021 from a massive heart attack. This brought an end to a short, debilitating fight with pancreatic cancer.
He was born June 11, 1952 to Robert and Bernadine (Ruhland) Heimbecker.
Frank spent 30 years working the line at Oscar Mayer. Upon his retirement, he worked as a custodian for three years at DeForest High School. He followed that by working at Waunakee Intermediate School for 12 years. He delivered Meals on Wheels in the DeForest area for several years and helped monthly with the local food pantry.
Frank was a baseball enthusiast; he was particularly fond of the Brewers. Some of his passions included reading, restoring his 1968 AMX, playing euchre, and walking. In healthier years, he was an avid runner and bicyclist.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky; sister, Doris (Ray) Stickler; step children, Lauren (Robert) Tredinnick, Leigh Ann (Brandon) Graf, and Lance (Amanda) Maerz. He is further survived by his nieces, Sandra (Michael) Goke, Melissa (Michael) Watson, and Rebecca Ruhland. Finally, he leaves behind many grandchildren and great nieces and a great nephew who were like grandchildren to him--all of whom he loved dearly.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 220 S. Main St., DeForest, with The Rev. Sue Beadle officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at church. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., at the church. Additional visitation will take place from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 18 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Rd., DeForest. Due to the Dane County mandate, masks will be required.
