Madison - Melissa Rose Ciarlette (nee Curkeet), age 38, passed away on October 18, 2021, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison. She was born on July 11, 1983, in Madison, WI to parents Richard and Arlene Curkeet.
Melissa graduated from Verona Area High School in 2001. She married Matt L. Ciarlette on October 30, 2010. In her teen years, she was a terrific wheelchair basketball player with great acceleration, smooth mid-range shots and follow through to the envy. She later graduated from Parkland in 2005 with her degree in child development, shortly after she started to work at Woods Hollow Children’s Center, which she loved. She coached her childhood wheelchair basketball team (Mad City) for many years after college. On September 20, 2017, she gave birth to her only son Ryder, who gave her all the joy in the world and who she loved with her whole heart. She loved spending time at her family’s cabin in the Summer/Fall seasons. Melissa was always willing to help with any task. She engaged every challenge in a steady direct manner.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Matt; son, Ryder; father and step-mother, Richard and Peggy Curkeet; sister, Nicole Curkeet, step-sisters, Sandy (Nick) Frinzi, Meredith Noltner (fiancée Chris), Madeline (Christian) Noltner; Grandmother, Phylis Curkeet; Aunt Gale (Denny) Zimmermann, Aunt Louise (Bruce) Sullivan; Uncles, Richard Belshaw, Terry Curkeet, William Curkeet, Eugene (Kelly) Curkeet, Bart (Mary) Richards, and Dave (Lorraine) Wackershauser; In-laws, Lenny and LeeAnn Ciarlette, brother-in-law, Mark (Laura), sister-in-law, Nichole, Grandma Carol Legerski, Grandpa Len Ciarlette; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, grandmother, grandparents Marion and Don Doefer, Grandfather, Loyd Curkeet, and Aunt Anna Curkeet.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until time of service. Interment will be held at Verona City Cemetery.
