MADISON – Inda L. Hoffman, age 99, passed away on October 20, 2021, just one month shy of her 100th birthday. She will celebrate it in heaven with her husbands, Donald Henneger and Joseph Hoffman, sister, parents, family and friends.
Inda was born in Estherville, Iowa on November 24, 1921 to Harry and Mabel (Rankin) Heffelfinger. She was true to her Iowa roots and was always a Hawkeye. Having moved with family around the state, she graduated from Dubuque High School, and married Don after he served in WWII. They settled in Centerville, but moved to Madison to raise their five children.
Inda enjoyed dancing, golfing, and socializing. She was employed at Mendota Mental Health Institute as an administrative secretary. She was active at her church, within the community, and volunteering with various political campaigns, as well as at St Mary’s gift shop.
Inda is survived by her children, Richard (Sheila), William (Lori), Mark (Anita), Susan (Harold), and Barbara (Mike Kohl). She is further survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, with Father Gabriel Lopez-Betanzos presiding. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Mass at church, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Private Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. A special thank you to St. Mary’s Hospital and the staff of Oak Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospital or St. Peter Catholic Church.
