Obituary
Madison - Nancy K. Nelson, age 77 passed away on October 20, 2021, at Tennyson Senior Living in Madison. Nancy was born on January 24, 1944, the daughter of Dorothy M. Boyson. She graduated from Deforest High School in 1962 and married her high school sweetheart on June 30, 1962, recently celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary. Nancy was the devoted mother of two children remaining active as a Sunday school teacher and 4-H leader. She retired from the State of WI Bureau of Finance and traveled with Tom and the Zor Shrine helping to fundraise for the Shriners Children's Hospitals. She also became active in the Daughter's of the Nile and was crowned Queen to lead fundraising efforts for charity. A passion in Nancy's life was quilting and she created many quilts which she donated to charity and gifting to many loved ones. Nancy was a member of Norway Grove Lutheran Church where she quilted with her church sisters and traveled with the youth group to Michigan participating in Habitat for Humanity. Nancy embraced an adventurous life with family camping, traveling, a northern WI cabin and a Floridian condo where she loved spending cherished time with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband Tom Nelson, a son Bryan Nelson, a daughter Tammy Cockings and her only beloved grandson Caleb Cockings. Nancy was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Zepp and a brother Dennis Boyson.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until time of service. Refreshments to follow after the service.
