Walter L. “Walt” Stacy, age 75, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Meriter Hospital, Madison. He was born on August 16, 1946 in Schenectady, New York, the son of Ray and Esther (Sironen) Stacy. Walt proudly served in the United States Air Force, serving in both Libya and Germany. He spent over 30 years with AT&T in the Chicago suburbs. After early retirement he moved to Madison to move in with his brother, William. Walt was a breast cancer survivor and enjoyed volunteering at Gilda’s Club for several years.
Walt was a ukulele enthusiast and was a member of the MAUI group. He also enjoyed travelling to Europe, South America and many national parks within the US. Walt was a season ticket holder with the Madison Mallards for many years, and enjoyed many good times at the ball park.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff, Shawn (Christy) and Brian (Kara); grandchildren, Trevor, Samantha and Nathan; brother, William “Bill”; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, where military honors will be held at 4 p.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at Meriter Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Walt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club Madison.
