Joan Laessig

Betsy, I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I've thought of your whole family many times. All my sympathy to you and your family.

I recall interviewing Joan for the librarian position at St. Dennis School. She was so committed to education and to teaching kids through her love of books. I hired her, and she was always willing to collaborate with classroom teachers to make the reading experience and library time special to the students. After a few years with us, I asked her to become part of a rotating literature circle process for the 7th and 8th graders. Her role was to do an author study with a different group of students each quarter. I felt I could count on Joan to put her best into all she did. As much as she loved to teach. her greatest joy was to talk about her family - her beloved Ron, and the delight of her life, Betsy! My deep condolences to you, Betsy, and your family.

Joan was a wonderful friend and coworker who treated me like a daughter. We shared many laughs together! She will be greatly missed.
