Obituary
MADISON - Linda Lou Bethel, age 70, passed away on May 27, 2022 at her home with family by her side. She was born on April 15, 1952 in Stoughton, WI to parents Harry and Elfrieda (Gunderson) Strand. Linda was a 1970 graduate of La Follette High School. During her high school years, she met Gary Bethel while they were both working at Donut Land on Monona Drive. Linda and Gary were married on October 10, 1970 in Monona, WI. They were blessed with two children and over fifty-one years of marriage, renewing their marriage vows in 2007 and 2020.
Linda worked as a claims associate for WPS until her retirement. After retiring, she worked part-time at Hyvee, where she loved working and made many good friends. Outside of work, she enjoyed stamping, making greeting cards, and making scrapbooks for her granddaughters. Linda loved her granddaughters with all of her heart and they loved spending time together. She cherished her travels with Gary, especially to Hawaii and New York. Linda was a fan of hot days, the warmer the climate the better. She appreciated the simple things in life: a well-done burger, beer, and sunshine.
Linda is survived by her husband, Gary Bethel; children, Valerie (John) Becker and Coy (Jennifer) Bethel; granddaughters, Bronte and Zoe Bethel; mother, Elfrieda Strand; siblings, Sandy (Terry) Allsage and Randy (Maryann) Strand; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Strand.
Linda was grateful to her entire medical team and would want to say thank you for their care and support.
