Obituary
Madison – John L. Luther passed away on August 19, 2022, at his residence. He was born on June 8, 1932, in Franklin Township - Sauk County, Wisconsin to parents Henry J. Luther and Ruby V. (Hemberger) Luther.
John graduated from Baraboo High School in 1950 and later briefly attended Madison Business College. He married Joan Swan on September 25, 1954, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison, Wisconsin. He entered the U.S Army on January 10, 1952, in Fort Eustis, Virginia. John was a firefighter for the Madison Fire Department for 32 years where he was an EMT and lieutenant and served as the treasurer of the Madison Fire Department Union. He also worked as a maintenance man at Immanuel Lutheran Church for 16 years. John was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of the Baraboo American Legion Post 26. He was active in track, basketball, and football.
John is survived by his wife of 68 years Joan; children Brian (Peggy) Luther and Jane (Neal) Neyer; grandchildren Eric (Kim) Neyer, Andy (Jen) Neyer, Christie (Daniel) Peters, Mike (Jennie) Luther, Kyle (Nicole) Luther; and 7 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Harley) Ware. He is preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings.

Private services are being held at Ryan Funeral Home, Sherman. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
