John Brower

Verona, WI/Seattle, WA - John L. Brower, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Orchid Home in Verona, WI. John grew up in Seattle, WA. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Seattle. He served as a merchant marine and was also with the National Guard although never deployed. One of his most interesting jobs was while he was working at Boeing, where he accepted a position to work in North Dakota at the missile launch sites where he later met his first wife Aris. Before moving to Wisconsin to be closer to family, John could be found on his deck in Astoria, Oregon, watching the barges and tugs on the Columbia River. John loved to garden, do woodworking, and be by the water and “enjoy the view,” but to his family he’s probably best remembered for his story telling ability. Every time the story was retold it just got bigger, more elaborate, and more unbelievable! You’ll be missed, Papa!

He is survived by his daughter, Bardette (Scott) Grim; 5 grandchildren, Brandie, Tiffany, Jeremy, Aaron and Tyler; 3 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Phyllis Brower, Marc (Sue) Brower and Nancy (Ron) Maxson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Tasha Brower and ex-wives, Aris Peters and Gloria Brower.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona.
