Obituary
Madison - Robert Ingemon “Bob” Moe, of Madison, passed away Wednesday, October 12th at the age of 90. He had suffered through many months of failing physical health. Bob was born in 1932 in Ferndale, Michigan, the youngest child of Ingemon and Florence (Larson) Moe. The family moved to Mexico, Missouri where Bob graduated high school. Bob enlisted in the army and served as a surveyor with the Army Corps of Engineers in Alaska in support of the Korean War. Bob returned to Missouri and earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri. He then went to the University of California, Berkeley to earn a master’s degree in traffic engineering. It was at Berkeley that Bob met Florence White. They were married in 1957 and settled in Milwaukee, where Bob began work for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Bob and Florence raised five children in Wauwatosa and Madison, Wisconsin. Sadly, after thirty-three years of marriage, Florence passed away.
After Florence’s death, Bob found new love with Pamela (Proskin) Iverson. Bob and Pam were in strong agreement that all eight of their children (Bob’s five plus Pam’s three) would be loved and cherished as one family. Bob and Pam celebrated their 28th anniversary this past August.
Bob stayed with the Department of Transportation for his entire professional career, retiring in 1997. For the next few years Bob and Pam traveled widely, visiting China, Russia, and India among many other places. Also during these years, Bob and Pam welcomed twelve grandchildren into their hearts.
Bob was a long-time member of Wellspring United Methodist Church, serving in various volunteer roles and singing with Pam in the choir as long as his health permitted. Bob was faithful to the Brewers and the Packers, even when they disappointed him.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, his sister Betty, his brother Harold, his first wife Florence, and his son Riyad Edward. He is survived by his wife Pamela, their children Jennie Moe (Mark) Ehrmann, Warren Moe, Emily Moe (Mark) Christensen, William Moe, daughter-in-law Sobia Kirmani-Moe, Jeff (Tanya) Iverson, Cara Iverson (Don) Schamun, and Jay (Sarah) Iverson. Bob is also survived by grandchildren Carolina, Ryan, Tyler, Aisha (Michael), Rizvan, Fatimah, Imran, Spencer, Addie, Robert, Patrick and Zoë. Bob is survived by his sister-in-law Caroline White Shogren and by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Every one of these people knew Bob to be devoted to his family and proud of them. He was at every scouting event, ball game, ballet recital and school concert or play, most often volunteering his time and attention to these endeavors. Those of us who came within the circle of Bob’s family – and he drew a wide, inclusive circle – will be grateful always that he was in our lives.
A memorial service for Bob’s life will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Wellspring United Methodist Church, 5702 S Hill Dr, Madison. Visitation at the church will be at 10:00 AM. A Celebration reception following the memorial service will be held at Madison Country Day School, 5606 River Road, Waunakee. A visitation will be held on Friday evening October 21, 2022 at Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Road, Madison from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
