Obituary
Madison – Marian F. Witz died peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, under the wonderful and loving care of Agrace Hospice and Four Winds Manor in Verona. She leaves her son Gary Gatterman of Berkeley, CA; daughter Bonnie (Jerry Getka) of Montgomery, IL; son Craig (Joan) of Oregon, WI; son Dean of Onalaska, WI; eleven grandchildren; and many close friends. Marian was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Arthur A Witz, her five siblings, and her parents, Joseph C & Alberta W. Stude.
Marian was born on September 2, 1925 and grew up on the family farm outside of Mineral Point, WI. After graduating high school in 1943 she worked in Madison at Wisconsin Telephone & Ray-O-Vac before marrying Arthur in 1949. Arthur was a manager with Montgomery Wards and Marian used to tell the stories of their rough life moving every few months or years as Art managed different stores around the Midwest. Marian and Arthur settled in Madison in 1961 where Arthur began his career as a residential real estate broker and Marian was a full-time mother and homemaker. Arthur and Marian later moved to the All Saints senior community.
Marian was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace church for many years. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, and trips to the casinos.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace church followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Agrace Hospice or All Saints in Marian’s name. Marian also wanted to give a special thanks to her close friends Karen Krueger and Jackie Luyet and niece Donna Springer.
